Helping others - Elgin Soup KettleJuly 22nd, 2009The Elgin Seventh-day Adventist Church Lends a Helping Hand On any 4th Wednesday of the month, the Elgin Seventh-day Adventist Church voulunteers time and love at the local homeless shelter at the "Soup Kettle". In short, the Elgin Soup Kettles are a mission of the Elgin Cooperative Ministries. For the past 10 years a number of local churches including ESAC have collaborated with Elgin's Soup Kettle program, serving those in need with hot meals and warm smiles. Soup Kettle's Kitchen provides meals to 60-100 needy individuals every night. ESAC (Elgin Adventist Church) participates in this event every 4th Wednesday of each month. Simply, they help out, serve and participate at First Congregational Church, 256 E., Chicago St., 5:30-6:30.If you are interested in participating in this ministry, you can simply show up at the event on the 4th Wednesday of any month and ask for Nicole Taylor. Nicole says; "Our church does "the second" shift so we help in serving and cleaning up. We have been involved for about 4 years and enjoy it tremendously.
